Born in Shubra, Cairo, to an Egyptian mother and Senegalese father.

 

Encouraged by his half-brother, Sayed Allam, to play football.

Represented his institute in Al-Azhar championships, excelling in both football and table tennis.

 

Won the national U-16 championship and had his name published in the newspapers for the first time.

Played for the “Malah” team, then the “Madinah” youth team.

 

Attracted attention after scoring a decisive goal in a match in Port Said.

 

Joined Ismaily SC in 1972 after being spotted by Sayed Abdel Razek (Bazouka) and youth coach Mohamed Othman.

 

Initially played as a forward before switching to midfield.

 

Participated in local and international tournaments, including the 1973 African Cup, and toured several countries with Ismaily.

The turning point came in the 1975 Egypt Cup quarter-final against Al Ahly, where he scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory.

Received offers from France, Lebanon, Qatar, and Oman, but his coach, Tomson, refused.
